BRETT FRIEDLANDER : Brett has been covering sports in the region for eons  (well, yes he is old as dirt but 25 years as a professional writer is pretty good) earning 22 national, regional and state awards. His honors include a 2007 NC Press Association Award in the sports feature category for two chapters from Chasing Moonlight “The True Story of Field of Dreams’ Doc Graham a book he published in with R.W. Reising and Blair Publishing. He is currently the ACC beat Writer for the Wilmington Star News and he also writes for ACC Sports Journal and Blue Ribbon Magazine. He started on the Sports Blast (formerly the Brett and the Bad Boy show) in 2002 with long time friend and broadcaster Allen Smothers. He lives in Cary, NC with his wife Karen and they have two children.

An 8 year radio broadcaster, Hal joined the Sports Blast in December 2009. He is a native of Goldsboro, N.C. and graduated from  Cary High School in 1982.  After high school, Hal joined the U.S. Army as a heavy wheeled vehicle mechanic and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He retired from the military in 2003 out of XVIII Airborne Corps-Dragon Brigade and began working for The News-Journal as a sports writer and advertising sales rep in 2003.

He started broadcasting high school football games for Hoke County in 2004 and still carries the games on AM1400 Raeford for the Bucks Broadcast Network. In 2006, Hal was the play-by-play radio announcer for the NBA D-League Franchise Fayetteville Patriots. He is currently the Public Address announcer for the Hoke County Fighting Bucks at Raz Autry Stadium in Raeford.

Hal is married to his childhood sweetheart from Cary, N.C. Melanie and they have three boys, Hal III, a recent graduate of NC State University  (Media Communications Major), Heath, a junior at the University of N.C. at Pembroke (Journalism/Religion Major) and Ethan, a sophomore at the University of N.C. at Pembroke (Sociology Major). He is a huge N.C. State fan and a Wolfpack Club Representative for Hoke County.

Don is a former all-state athlete at Hope Mills High School. He played professional baseball for six seasons, the last four in AAA. For twelve years he was a professional baseball scout in North and South Carolina with the Major League Scouting Bureau.  He started his broadcasting career in 1990 as one of the founders of Mid-South Sports as a sideline reporter and host of a pregame coaches show. He founded DK Sports in 2002 where he does play-by-play for the Game of the Week broadcast. He has called seven state football championships games, including a rare doubleheader in 2008. Don was instrumental in bringing professional baseball and AAU girls basketball to Fayetteville. Don joined the Sports Blast in 2014. He is married to Sharon, they have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. He is retired and enjoys giving private pitching lessons.
